CEO/Co-Founder, ActiveDEMAND

Sean Leonard is the CEO and co-founder of ActiveDEMAND, where he remains dedicated to helping businesses by way of implementing advanced online marketing strategies, marketing automation technology and sales and marketing expertise that is simple, effective and affordable. As an entrepreneur, Sean boasts more than 25 years of successful experience launching, owning, operating and growing businesses, in addition to over 20 years of successful global sales and marketing experience in the industrial automation industry.

To say this results-driven entrepreneur holds a track record rich in profitability growing technology-based product businesses is something of an understatement; with extensive experience building global sales organizations, advanced e-marketing strategies and market-leading brand equity, Sean knows a thing or two about piloting an execution-focused corporate culture.

Among his other specialties are product marketing, technology start-ups, global sales expansion, software development process optimization, brand development, sustainable profitable business growth and international business affairs.

Patrica Beatty

Patricia Beatty, M.Sc.Eng.

CTO/Co-Founder, ActiveDEMAND

Patricia Beatty is the CTO and co-founder of ActiveDEMAND. Patricia has extensive experience driving technical innovation for SAAS startups. Patricia not only has a depth of experience architecting big data software applications, she as well has the skillset required to build scalable, secure, cloud based infrastructures. Patricia has a long history of applying technology to help people succeed personally and financially.

Among her other specialties are cloud based software, securing and developing scalable infrastructures, technical mentorship, project management, contract negotiations, cloud computing, risk assessment, and business strategy. Patricia has done extensive research in the area of online privacy and trust in e-commerce, large scale monte-carlo simulation, and cloud computing.

Dennis Nerland

Dennis Nerland, QC

Managing Partner, Shea Nerland LLP

Dennis is one of the three founding partners of Shea Nerland LLP, and leads their tax & estate planning practice.

Dennis received a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Calgary in 1975. Further pursuing education, he received a Master of Arts Degree in Economics from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario in 1976 and finally, a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Calgary in 1979.

Dennis completed the Rotman / Haskayne Directors Education Program and achieved the designation of Institute-Certified Director (ICD.D) from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2011. He also successfully completed the Rotman Financial Literacy Program and am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Planners (“STEP”) and have achieved the Trust and Estate Practitioner (“TEP”) designation.

Dennis presently works as a director and trustee of a significant number of private financial businesses and trusts. In addition to this he is currently, and has previously been, a director of numerous public companies listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Matthew Heffernan

Matthew Heffernan

CEO, Zedi

Matthew’s extensive experience of executive management in technology, SCADA, sales and business development continues to aid Zedi in achieving the vision of becoming the Global Leader of Production Operations Management. Matt was engaged as a Director with the company prior to accepting his current position as President and CEO in 2006.

Mr. Heffernan held executive positions in telecommunications, satellite imaging, and engineering consulting where he was involved in mergers and acquisitions and subsequently was able to turn faltering business units into high-growth, high-profit operations. His areas of expertise include Data Communications, System Design and Development and Network Management. Mr. Heffernan has been a Director of Zedi, Inc. since November 2002. He has been a Director of BluMetric Environmental Inc. since August 24, 2016. He served as a Director of Intequest Corp. He studied Electronic Engineering at Algonquin College of Applied Arts & Technology. In addition to his work at Zedi, Matt is the Executive Chairman of Blackbridge Corporation.

Clark Johannson

CTO, AnyQuip Inc.

Mr. Johannson is the President and co-founder of ClickSpace Interactive, a software development and Internet marketing organization. An award-winning entrepreneur – Johannson’s past businesses have been awarded the “50 Best Managed Canadian Private Companies” by The National Post and nominated as “The Most Promising New Business” by the Canadian New Media Awards. Mr. Johannson has an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and has served on the International Board of the Entrepreneurs Organization as the Director of Technology.

As President of ClickSpace, Johannson has engineered and participated in hundreds of different online campaign strategies, ranging from Google to Twitter. He has shared his experience in dozens of interviews with organizations such as CBC Radio, The Globe and Mail and PC Magazine.

As a serial entrepreneur, Johannson and the ClickSpace team have leveraged their Internet expertise by incubating several successful Internet start-ups. These include StrataHealth Solutions, Shop To It and Solarance Software Solutions. Johannson has financed these start-ups by raising over $9 million in private equity financing.
