What is Spam or UCE (Unsolicited Commercial Email)?

Spam or unsolicited commercial email (UCE) is promotional email sent to a mailbox recipient that has not opted-in or given permission to the sender. More than 90% of sent emails is considered UCE or “spam.” UCE is monitored by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to determine if there is any dishonesty or fraud contained in the UCE content, if the massive volume UCE imposes tech / economic significant load or strain on the delivery networks and Internet as a whole, and the overall costs and frustration large volumes of UCE have on consumer recipients.
