Signature File

What is a Signature File?

A signature file (sig file) is a standard tagline or text block added at the end of an email message that identifies or verifies the content of a file. Most email programs provide a function / drop-down to complete that generates a standard signature file that automatically appears at the end of emails. Signature files typically include the sender’s full name, title, position, or occupation, company, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, and website address. A “favorite quote,” motto, or brief personal statement are sometimes included.
