What is Permission-Based Marketing?

Permission-based marketing is sent to recipients that have expressed an interest and have asked to receive the particular marketing communication (i.e.: direct mail or email, including newsletters, blogs, coupons, etc.). Permission-based email (opt-in email) marketing involves sending email messages and offers to recipients that have completed forms giving permission (opting-in) to receive them. Permission-based email marketing is used to build brands and customer relationships and increase sales. Messages, advertisements, and offers are customized and directed toward a targeted segment that requested the information and is not likely to ignore the marketing effort.
