IP Address (Internet Protocol Address)

What is an IP Address (Internet Protocol Address)?

An IP address (Internet Protocol Address) is a number which uniquely identifies each computer from all computers on the Internet. One IP address is assigned to each computer / device in the network that sends data from one computer to another on the Internet. Automated marketing systems typically recognize IP addresses of website visitors. Anonymous visitors are identified. IP addresses can be static (will never change) or dynamic (a temporary address assigned whenever a computer / device accesses the Internet).
