What is Email?

Email (electronic mail) is a central component of inbound marketing that provides a means of electronically connecting with masses of individuals simultaneously. Business marketers send one-off emails to target selected segments of their database; transactional emails promote and aid in completing or validating a purchase transaction the recipient agreed to and confirmed previously; direct emails market promotional materials (catalogs, etc.). The inbound marketer cannot exploit the subscriber email relationship because the subscriber can easily “unsubscribe” from receiving any further messages.
